Customer Review: Piece of Junk!
The Hoover vacuums including this one are not meant to last more than 2 years. We owned this vacuum for about 6-7 months then the main belt broke. The belt is extremely hard to find and cost about $16. All of the parts on this vacuum are made of plastic and certain parts have cracked. It was nice being able to switch from carpet to hardwood effortlessly, but the vacuum is also very noisy. My sincere recommendation is buy a Miele ($400). We did and are extremely happy with it. It has a 7-yr warrantly unlike the 1-yr with Hoover. INVEST in a vacuum that is going to last you a while.
Customer Review: okay for normal traffic, bad for pet hair
after taking back not one but two dyson animal vacs about two years ago, I bought the hoover savvy. It worked fantastically…at first. The stair tool was awesome…until I nicked it on the corner of the steps and it stopped working. I used this vacuum about 3 times a week to keep up with the hair from my two border collies and it would pick up the hair and all of the dirt leaving my carpet pretty and fresh. Until the day it got a clog in the hose. Cleaned that out with a jerry rigged contraption. Then the belt blew. Then the power switch became tricky and you had to get it in the right place for it to work. Finally it just went kaput even though I religiously changed the filters and had only had it for two years.
My mom has one that she bought around the same time and it is still working fine. She does not have excessive pet or person hair, just normal day to day dirt. It is working great for her.

Dyson DC14 Upright Vacuum (with Rug-Cleaning Kit) Customer Review: Did not meet my expectations
From reading all the other reviews, I thought I would fall in love with this from the first time I used it. Well I did not.. I have 4 kids and 1 cat and it did not do much better than my hoover.. I was not impressed from the first time I used it and still not impressed..
Maybe I just got a bad one out of the bunch but I would (will) not buy another Dyson….
And as far as Amazon… When I bought it, it was stated as “full access” and I assumed that it included all the extras since that is what a full access means to me.. Full access to all parts to clean with.. Well it did not.. This CS was rude and not nice when I called but his supervisor was nice and listened to me complain. I understand that they personally could do nothing but I was not happy with my purchase AT ALL!
The product sucks (and not too well literaly) and the purchase sucked.
Go to a store and test it out before you buy….
I still have my hoover to use along with this Dyson.
Customer Review: If Oprah chose vacuums…
I read a lot of these reviews before I bought this Dyson. I hate to be such a lemming but this is truly an awesome machine. What Haagen Dazs did to ice cream, Dyson did to vacuums. This thing is amazing! The amount of dog hair it picks up–and this model does not come with the “power paw” that is specifically designed for pet hair—but I don’t miss it. It is also very light compared to our old vacuum and it doesn’t kick all the dirt back at me like our old one did. The Dyson is not self-propelled but that doesn’t matter. Also that arm can come out and extend so you can get all those yucky spiderwebs in the corners of all your rooms. I actually look forward to vacuuming these days (hopefully this will wear off and the “Hubby” will do some) but really, I cannot recommend a Dyson strongly enough. It is totally worth the money.

Customer Review: Similar Long Hair Experience
As with the other the other reviewer, long hair also clogged the agitator brushes to the point where they stopped turning. I have never had this happen on another vacuum. The brushes jammed due to a plastic guide piece and the belt broke. Find another vacuum.
Customer Review: Can’t handle long hair!!
I bought this type vacuum because of the dynamics of the DUAL rotating agitator bars, the exceptional edge-cleaning and low-to the -floor profile(it can get really close under edges of counters, furniture). The adjustable and colapsible handle is fabulous as it takes up less room to store and even my petite daughter can easily use it. However, in only 6 months of use it has stopped working-the agitator bars arrangement allows for long hair to be wrapped onto them BUT NOT vaccumed into bag, to the extent that they caused the bushings that are opposite the belt to MELT, and only then did one of the belts break. This was after I’d carefully and faithfully cleaned the agitators off more often than the every 5 uses that was suggested in the instructions. When Panasonic was called about this problem, they had no other information, could tell me of no complaints tracked at all, but were very helpful about sending paperwork for the warranty to be observed. However parts are back-ordered for 8weeks!! (and according to service center this is not unusual for Panasonic). The store (…) honored the mfr’s 1 year warranty by looking up my receipt,(and I’d paid cash), and giving me store credit for another or same model. I went with a different mfr and model because tho I will miss my telescoping handle and close to floor access most, the Hoover had better suction, easier to use tools and a powered attachment for steps.It was a little less expensive-so I got the store to throw in their 4 yr warranty beginning today and I’ve got 30 days to see if this one can actually suck up long hair or I’ll return it for cash. (There’s no frequent roller cleaning necessary in these instructions either).I’m hopeful.

Customer Review: Horrible piece of junk, avoid at all cost!
This vacuum is impressive looking, I’ll give it that. Sadly, that’s the only nice thing I can say about it. It’s heavy, clunky, constantly loses suction and the accessories fall off while you use it. Probably due to it’s “electro-static” feature, the thing is a dust magnet…you can clean it thoroughly, place it in a clean spot, and the following day the entire machine is evenly coated with dust. Worst of all, it frequently decides to spray dirt and dust all over the place, creaing a FAR bigger mess than the one you’re attempting to clean up!
